Banksia serrata, 'A closer study'

Banksias are actually made up of hundreds of small florets massed together in a single spike. They open over several weeks and emanate sweet nectar which birds, insects,small marsupials and bats drink. In exchange for the sweet nectar the flower gets pollinated.
