Ancient Relic

There are 36 sandblows on Fraser Island. Apart from sand you can find the skeletons of trees which were once buried. They look like wild Salvador dali sculptures.I have spent a lot of time up on this sand dune. People’s initial instinct is to somehow try and protect the trees from being enveloped by the advancing dune. However, the idea that this process has built most of the island appeals to me, like a geographical limbo zone which creates a new chapter of the island. Although the dunes and forests which stood there previously are buried, they are still an intrinsic part of the system as a whole.
